The Southwestern Center for Independent Living (SWCIL) is an independent living resource center that works to promote societal acceptance, inclusion, and equal access for all persons with disabilities by empowering others with Independent Living resources and services. 

SWCIL is currently accepting resumes for the following position:
Support Planner & Independent Living Specialst
The Southwestern Center for Independent Living (SWCIL) is an independent living resource center that works to promote societal acceptance, inclusion, and equal access for all persons with disabilities living in Southwest Minnesota. A Support Planner & Independent Living Specialist works with individuals to develop Consumer Directed Community Support (CDCS) plans and budgets, teaches independent living skills, and offers advocacy, career counseling, and peer mentoring services. Candidates must reside in the local Southwestern Minnesota service area including Cottonwood, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Rock, and Yellow Medicine Counties.


Minimum Qualifications: 
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Pass a criminal background study.
• Must live in the local service area or be willing to relocate prior to starting.
• Capability to work independently.
• Access to reliable transportation.
• Knowledge of disabilities and their characteristics
• Preferred: four-year degree in a human/social services or related field or a two-year degree in a human/social services field combined with one year of experience in a disability-related position. Educational requirements may be substituted by experience with disabilities/disability services.

Wage & benefits:  $18.00 – $22.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience. Vacation, sick, holiday, and personal day PTO, retirement plan matching, and health, short-term disability, and life insurances.
