Benefits Coaching is a service that SWCIL provides to help individuals understand the impact work has on their state or federal benefits. Together, the individual and SWCIL staff will discuss work goals and learn about the public benefits they are currently receiving. Once a work goal is identified, staff can work with the individual on preparing scenarios to provide a glimpse into what their future benefits and overall income may look like. Staff can also help with identifying any programs or services the individual may be currently eligible for or may become eligible for when their earned income increases. Social Security also offers work incentives that staff can work with the individual on understanding how these programs may help pay for items and services needed to gain or maintain employment.
