Our Services...

Independent living programs offer a wide range of supportive services that are provided as a means to assist people with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining the greatest control over their lives.

Independent living philosophy is based on the concept that persons with disabilities have the right to choose and live a lifestyle free from discrimination and segregation.  Our services are designed to meet the specific needs of persons with all types of disabilities.  Consumers are responsible to develop and control their own goal-oriented service plans.  In addition, consumers are able to choose where their services are provided be it within the home, school or community  Staff members provide assistance, support and encouragement to the consumer in establishing and achieving their independent living goals

Who We Serve...

Persons seeking services in the areas of advocacy, cross-disability peer/group counseling, and independent living skills training need only to have the presence of a disability to be eligible for our services.  Our services are available to persons with all disability types

Service Area...

Consumer services are provided in southwestern Minnesota with the primary focus for individual services being the counties of Lyon, Redwood, Murray, Nobles, Cottonwood, and Jackson.  Requests for individual services outside of these counties are considered on an individual basis

SWCIL will assist with planning for consumers who desire to move from institutionalized living to community based living. For more information, please contact SWCIL.
