Our Services... Centers for Independent Living offer a wide range of independent living services that assist people with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining the greatest control over their lives. Independent living philosophy is based on the concept that persons with disabilities have the right to choose and live a lifestyle free from discrimination and segregation. Consumers are responsible to develop and control their own service plans. In addition, consumers are able to choose where their services are provided be it within the home, school or community Staff members provide assistance, support and encouragement to the consumer in establishing and achieving their independent living goals. |
| Who We Serve... Persons seeking services in the areas of advocacy, cross-disability peer/group counseling, and independent living skills training need only to have the presence of a disability to be eligible for our services. Our services are available to persons with all disability types |
| Service Area... Consumer services are provided in the 10 counties of southwestern Minnesota. These counties include Cottonwood, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Rock, Redwood, and Yellow Medicine. Requests for individual services outside of these counties are considered on an individual basis. SWCIL, in collaboration with DEED, is expanding services to youth with disabilities in Chippewa and Lac qui Parle counties. |
